AVIATION EXPLORER POST BEING ORGANIZED IN OCEANCOUNTY
Are you interested in the field of aviation? EAA Chapter 898 at MillerAirPark is looking for young men and women ages 14 to 20 to organize an Aviation Explorer Post. We are also looking for men and women over 21 to act as committee members and advisors for the new program.
Exploring is a "Learning for Life" program and an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America. The Post members will explore different careers in aviation as well as participate in other aviation related activities such as fly-ins and air shows. The Explorer program emphasizes career opportunities, service, and leadership experience. It offers opportunities to participate in practical, real, and meaningful hands-on experiences such as pilot training ground schools. Exploring puts its members in contact with scholarship opportunities not offers to others. The post is not limited to aviation activities only as the members will plan the post program.
There will be an organizational meeting on Monday, June 9 in the Green Room at the Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library at 7:00 pm. Meeting attendance is free. The Aviation Explorer program will be discussed in more detail at the meeting. The registration fee to join Exploring is $15 per person.
The Explorer Post is open to young men and women of OceanCounty and surrounding areas. Youth members must be 14 to 20 and adult volunteers must be over 21 years old. All interested people are encouraged to attend the organizational meeting. For further information, please call Pete Hausman at 732-349-1037 x18.
